POSITION SUMMARY:
This position will provide a variety of prevention and intervention bicultural education programs and outreach services to individuals and families at community sites. Community Outreach Worker will connect community residents to the Eastside Health Center, the Arlanza Family Health Center, and other community resources.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Upholds and supports the mission, philosophy, objectives, policies and ethics of RCHF.

2. Receive training, including health education, leadership development, public speaking, team building, referrals, and resources.

3. Assist community residents in accessing services and presenting direct messages about disease prevention and healthy lifestyle choices.

4. May conduct prevention, health promotion, health education and fitness classes, workshops, and presentations throughout various service area neighborhoods.

5. Attend and assist with RCHF led meetings that promote the organizations’ mission and accomplish community priorities.

6. Attend and represent RCHF at relevant partner meetings and collaborations.

7. Assist with the development and cultivation of relationships with community leaders, agencies, and outreach organizations.

8. Track and maintain all records, evaluation components, and submit reports on a timely basis.

9. Work closely with other community agencies and make referrals as needed.

10. Participate in a minimum of ten (10) community health fairs and events annually representing RCHF.

11. Provide assistance/support to other Foundation programs as needed.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION:
• High School Diploma desired.

EXPERIENCE:
• Participation and/or leadership role in community groups

• Resident within the Foundation service area

• Minimum one year providing community education preferred

• Ability to develop and conduct health education presentations on various topics

Community Services Specialist


POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the supervision of the Community Center Manager, the Community Services Specialist is responsible for building, maintaining, and improving relationships with clients through regular communication. The Community Services Specialist ensures clients have a positive experience and acts as a liaison between staff and clients, assisting with complaints and scheduling. The Community Services Specialist also assists the team in ensuring high customer service and assists in conducting community center activities and special events and providing social services for groups or individuals in various program/service areas.

ESSENTIAL POSITION FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Acts as liaison between community members, participants, clients, and personnel; assesses client needs, identifies appropriate resources, and provides complete program information. Ensures that appropriate actions are taken to resolve customers’ problems and concerns.

2. Responsible for planning, coordinating, and implementing the Diaper Pantry and Clothing Closet programs.

3. Coordinates and maintains all aspects of donation inventory and pickups, organization, and distribution for the Diaper and Clothing Programs.

4. Provides social service assistance to community members and identifies alternative resources for community members/clients when appropriate, providing information and referrals to other RCHF and partnering health and human services organizations.

5. Completes a wide variety of administrative tasks for the team, including preparing monthly reports, assisting with calendars, coordinating the scheduling of rooms, assisting in determining equipment and material needs for program activities, and developing program guidelines, procedures, and forms/documents.

6. Perform a variety of general administrative duties such as answering phones and public inquiries regarding program services.

7. Maintains an organized office by tracking inventory, and ordering supplies as needed. Manages office equipment such as fax machines, projectors, sound systems, phone systems, copiers, etc. Maintains office services by organizing office operations and procedures, controlling correspondence, and preparing purchase order requests. Maintains comprehensive and accurate corporate records, documents, and reports, including historical references and documentation.

8. Conduct research; prepare and generate reports. Supports leadership in compiling and analyzing statistical information, contributing to all statistical reporting, budget, and reporting formats.

9. Coordinate special projects as assigned and support department special events. This includes equipment requests, ordering food/supplies, and pick-ups.

10. The Community Services Specialists are expected to perform their duties independently and may train and supervise Community Service Volunteers.

11. Supports the Community Center Manager in establishing priorities, identifying problems, and resolving them that are administrative in nature.

12. Support the team in collecting and recording client/participant data and information.

13. Assists with developing and updating the scope of work and individual work plan.

14. Ensure the safety of the public and staff at all times by monitoring and instructing on the safe use of program facilities, equipment, and supplies; maintain a safe, clean, and tidy environment; identify maintenance and safety problems; and coordinate repairs.

15. Upholds the mission and operating principles and participates as a team member, upholding the highest standards and ethical integrity.

16. Completes other administrative duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION:
High school diploma or equivalent. Associate’s degree from a regionally accredited institution in Business Administration, Office Management, or related field of study preferred.

EXPERIENCE:
Minimum of five years of administrative experience in an assistant role, preferably within a recreation or community service environment.

KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:
• Possession of strong verbal and written English communication skills

• Bilingual (English/Spanish)

• Ability to exercise good judgment in a variety of situations and utilize discretion with confidential matters.

• Conduct research and prepare reports; compile and analyze statistical data; maintain accurate records.

• High degree of organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to problem solve.

• Strong working knowledge of the community, programs, and resources.

• Ability to maintain a realistic balance among multiple priorities.

• Computer proficiency is required including Windows XP, Microsoft Outlook, MicrosoftWord, and Microsoft Excel.

• Ability to set and meet goals in an organized manner.

• Ability to exhibit a pleasant and welcoming demeanor in person and on the telephone with visitors, clients, and fellow workers.

• Promote activities of assigned programs, including resource fairs and events, which may be held after hours or on weekends.

• Proficiency in the operations of various office equipment.

• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision; self-motivated.

• Understand, explain, and apply policies and procedures.

• Ability to sit for 5-6 hours, stand, walk, bend/squat, and twist/turn for up to 1-2 hours.
