SoCal Women’s Cancer Conference Returns Virtually This October

RCHF’s annual cancer conference launches virtually this October for a 4-day event focusing on what it means to be a woman and a cancer survivor.

Riverside, CA –The Pink Ribbon Place, a program of Riverside Community Health Foundation, is proud to announce the return of the 4th annual SoCal Women’s Cancer Conference this year on October 21-24 for the English conference, and October 28-31 for the Spanish conference. The goal of the conference is simple but bold: to create an inspiring event which will provide one with quality education that will motivate one to implement real tangible life changing skills beyond diagnosis and treatment.

The four-day virtual conferences in English and Spanish will feature over 40 speakers and eight categories of information related to cancers of the breast, gynecological, colorectal, skin, and moreBreakout sessions during the conference include intimacy during cancer, navigating cannabis and the connection between genetics and cancer.

With cancer patients at an increased risk for COVID-19 access to experts in cancer through the SoCal Women’s Cancer conference is now more important than ever. This conference will be a space for women to be empowered through these difficult times. Navigating cancer through a pandemic is tough terrain, however, workshops are centered around helping women to be educated, advocate for themselves and thrive through their cancer journey.

“The conference being offered virtually is a first for us,” said Abigail Lopez, MPH, CHES®, Certified Health Education Specialist for The Pink Ribbon Place. “Despite the new terrain, we are excited to announce that the virtual platform has actually allowed us to expand on the number of cancers and topics we are able to address. And for the first time ever, we are able to offer the conference in Spanish to meet the needs of the Latinx and Hispanic communities. COVID-19 does not stop cancer and we aren’t allowing it to stop us either.”

The keynote speaker for the SoCal Women’s Cancer conference will focus on helping guests find ways in which they can foster hope and build resiliency through these uncertain times.

The English conference begins October 21 through October 24. Registration is now open at www.socalwcc.org. The Spanish conference begins October 28 through October 31. One can also register for the conference in Spanish at www.espanol.socalwcc.org.
