Community Artist Spotlight

We worked with community artist, Rosana (Rosy) Anguiano Cortez to develop an art piece that honored our REAL and HLP Family for all their hard work in the community this past year at our Resident Youth Annual Celebration. Learn more about this talented Community Artist.

With one hand in photography and the other in painting, Rosy studied photography and fine art at Riverside Community College. With her love and dedication to the arts, she continued her education at California State University of Long Beach (CSULB) interning with The Getty Multicultural Internship program for Watts Towers Art Center, Long Beach Arts Council for Rancho Los Cerritos Historic Site and studied one term at the Tianjin Academy of Fine Arts in Tianjin, China. Rosy received a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Figurative Painting and a minor in Photography from CSULB.

After graduating she became a full-time commercial product photographer while painting part-time. She then took a leap of faith and decided to pursue art full-time.

Since then, she has been awarded a scholarship to paint at the Grand Canyon through the Sedona Arts Center. She is currently the Artist-in-Residence with UCR's new Latino and Latin American Studies Research Center and new selected emerging artist for The Park Avenue Storefront Revitalization project through the Riverside Art Museum.

Rosy is working on both her residency and revitalization project out of the Eastside Arthouse. She spends her time leading drawing workshops and freelances as a photographer.
